Consultation FAQ

What Can You Expect from our Consultations?

First, you'll meet a Certified Arborist who will offer expert advice to identify the causes and sources of potential health risks for your trees & shrubs. Our local team of experts have extensive training to provide you a specific and scientifically-backed treatment plan. Your professional consultation will include a discussion of the current conditions of your trees and shrubs, a treatment and management plan, a written service recommendation and an opportunity to answer any questions about the treatment process. Once the proposed treatment is accepted, you'll be provided with an itemized copy of the service plan and treatment timeline. One of our professional applicators will carry-out the treatment plan using the best possible tested methods and products.

Why is a Professional Consultation Necessary?

Having a Certified Arborist visit your landscape is crucial for your plants' health. Expert diagnosis of insect, disease, or environmental conditions can uncover significant insight into the well-being of your trees and shrubs. Additionally, a professional must perform a visual inspection to provide an accurate price estimate for any special tree and landscape service. Spending the time to get a proper consultation to identify the pest or disease effecting your plants significantly increases the effectivness of a treatment while also saving time and costs in the long-run. Many other companies do not recommend professional consultations by a Certified Arborist, and end up treating for incorrect pests and diseases, which hurts the consumer and drives up secondary costs. By scheduling a consultation with us, you'll avoid wasting time and money on ineffective treatments.

Disease Warnings!

There are many diseases and pests within Minnesota that can harm your trees. Recently the area has come under attack from multiple pathogens due to long-term drought stress! Be wary of Emerald Ash Borer; the disease will kill any ash that is not properly treated. Oak Wilt, and Twolined Chestnut Borer are also major threats in the area as well. But don't fret, effective treatment is available!

Emerald Ash Borer

Described by many ecologists as one of the worst natural disasters of the past 500 years, Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) will kill every ash tree it touches, which are half the trees in many American towns! But it can be stopped with a simple, inexpensive treatment.

Our professionals inject a safe insecticide into the tree’s trunk at the base of the tree. The tree takes the product into its vascular system, circulating the treatment throughout. Within 24 hours, the product has entered every part of the tree.

Your ash tree will be inoculated and 100% resistant to Emerald Ash Borer. Once two years pass, the tree is re-treated. Once the infestation of Ash Borer in the area die or move to new regions, your tree will no longer need to be treated.

Oak Wilt

Caused by a fungus, Oak Wilt is a disease that affects all species of oak trees. A healthy Red Oak can perish from the disease within one month; White Oaks tend to be more resilient, but if left untreated, they will also die.

Oak Wilt spreads from diseased to healthy trees either below ground via connected roots or above ground by insects. Preventative treatment is vital to avoid continual spread of Oak Wilt and can save your tree before it becomes infested. Don't wait until the tree is infected, by then it's too late to stop the disease from spreading and treatments are exponentially more expensive than treating it early.

If treated early, oak trees only need a simple yearly injection to keep fungal infections at bay. However, if a tree has already contracted Oak Wilt, the treatment is much more intensive. Our professionals will excavate the root system of your oak using a high-powered pneumatic spade which exposes the roots without damaging them. A fungicide is then used to treat the tree. It is important to inject the fungicide into the main roots for the treatment to be effective.

Twolined Chestnut Borer

Twolined Chestnut Borer (TLCB) attacks on oak trees have increased across Minnesota, mainly caused by drought and other stresses placed on oaks. TLBC symptoms can easily be confused with Oak Wilt, and trees can be afflicted with both simultaneously.

TLBC attacks oak trees in a similar means as EAB attacks ash trees. Treatment for TLBC is also similar. Our professionals inject a safe insecticide into the tree’s trunk at the base of the tree. The tree takes the product into its vascular system, circulating the treatment throughout the tree. Within 24 hours, the product has entered every part of the tree, if properly watered beforehand.

Oak trees normally have resistance to Twolined Chesnut Borer if not under stress. During droughts it is vital trees continue to receive enough water to stay healthy, as a lack of a water is a primary cause tree disease susceptibility.
